Absolutely amazing experience, the gentleman who seemed to be the owner was absolutely fantastic with his hospitality. The staff were great as well and very understanding. They catered to my needs. One of the rare times I got a chance to experience something cooked with love - Home-made food served in a restaurant. Cannot beat this experience, it was absolutely fabulous being there. Tremendous attitude to serve customers, Service oriented, Customer centric, Filled with hospitality and love! Thank you, thank you thank you so much

Lovely restaurant. The naan was chewy in just the right way, the sapt chicken kadi was spicy, the tomatoes in the salad were so juicy and the rest of the salad was so crunchy. The owner was so warm and spoke to us like old friends.

I went there with my partner for dinner, the food was very good. We ordered paneer pakoda, he loved the paneer pakoda, and Masala chai and lemon drink with black salt and raajma daal, aloo paratha , butter chicken, naan. The atmosphere was good, the service was good staff were good , welcoming. We will go again.

Freshly cooked and very tasty food, not overly salty or oily like you find at some Indian restaurants. Extensive vegetarian menu, with a few chicken and prawn dishes available, (no beef or lamb dishes) and they catered to coeliac, making maize bread to go with the meal. I particularly enjoyed the eggplant pakora (entree), the delicious roti and the perfectly cooked tender chicken in yoghurt sauce. Lovely, attentive service. Certainly worth a visit. Oh, and parking is available out the back, off Shirley Street.

Honestly the best Indian I have ever tasted The service from the family run Indian Restaurant is better then a fine dining restaurant located in the heart of Sydney City I have never tested more of an immaculate butter chicken dish that honestly just melts in your mouth The intensity of the heat from their curry dishes is bang on Love your work guys I will be coming here from now on to enjoy my Indian food

I was recommended Shakm by a previous visitor who had high appraisal of the place. Located on a busy road, stepping inside I was greeted by a very different - very calm and colourful atmosphere. I was lucky enough to come at a time when I was one of the sole customers in attendance and as a result was able to experience the full range of hospitality offered by this quint family business. Having only eaten once at the time of this review I cannot truly give a full range of appraisal for the meals on offer and thus my five stars reflect the meal and service I was given in this day. My main meal was the Saag te makki di roti and radish salad. It was quite filling and certainly a great testament to South Asian skill with vegetarian dishes. The service was brilliant and really the reason behind leaving a review like this as it's something that should be recognized when encountered. The owner provided a genuine interest in the culture and history associated with the food alongside a general spirit for its creation. Well done all around Shakm.

We went to this Indian restaurant in Carlingford for dinner around 8:30 pm. There aren’t many Indian restaurants in the area, so we were happy to find this one. We ordered chicken tikka masala, two portions of rice and two roti for two people dining in. We also tried the nambu (lemon) juice and beetroot juice. the lemon juice was especially nice! The food was really tasty and the staff were very friendly. The overall atmosphere was nice, and it’s great to have a place serving good Indian food in this area. If you like Indian food, I definitely recommend trying this restaurant.

Absolutely fantastic. Had food at few Indian restaurants during my trip but Shakm absolutely surpasses them on authentic home style food. Ordered 5 dishes and various types of breads. Each one was outstanding ! So much so that I even did takeaways for the dinner. Kudos to the family who runs it. P.S. Go for delicious authentic food and awesome service. Do not focus on the ambience.
